Funding of Euro 350 million was set aside for this programme for the period 2008 to 2011. The main focus was on reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, with funding of over Euro 220 million. The balance was scheduled for research and development, as well as forest conversion, peatbog and flood protection. Around Euro 8 million in total was assigned to peatbog rewetting. Because of its geology, the administrative district of Oberbayern contains two thirds of all Bavarian peatbogs. Due to the large proportion of peatbogs, it was granted 40% of the “Peatbog budget”, and paid out Euro 3.25 million of the CliP 2020 financial aid. 75% was used to safeguard peatbogs capable of being renaturised; 8% were used for renaturisation planning: and 17% was spent on concrete renaturisation measures covering 117 ha. The effective area covered by these measures was 167 ha.}, note = { \url {http://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gldocs-11858/7281}}, }
