Particularly in northern Germany, but also at the Chiemsee, institutions meanwhile exist which not only collect and care for the field railways (whether locomotives or wagons) as well as possible, but also use these to transport interested guests. In many areas, however, there is a clear lack of cohesive collection and utilisation concepts. Furthermore questions regarding technical operation are not always conclusively regulated and insufficient thought has been given to statutory requirements. These problems become more acute as the number of field railway routes run by local associations increase as a result of the decline in Germany’s peat industry. The conference, which was held with the kind support of the „Moorbahn Uchter Moor“ association, was to take up issues regarding the planning and operation of field railways for purposes of tourism, as well as discussing the legal problems in connection with these matters. A fundamental purpose of the conference was to sensitise people for a differentiated approach towards the facilities and operation of field railways.}, note = { \url {http://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gldocs-11858/7312}}, }
