abstract = {Abstract: In July 2002 the state of Schleswig-Holstein implemented a programme for the rewetting of minerotrophic peatlands. The peatland programme was prepared by a working group established at the Federal State Agency for the Environment since 1995. The preliminary programme was discussed several times with representatives from nature conservation agencies, farmer organisations and the county administration. The goal of the programme is the restoration of the regulation function of minerotrophic peatlands for a reduction of non-point nutrient input into aquatic ecosystems. At the same time it is the aim to improve the site conditions for species adapted to wet habitats. In the frame of the programme one third of the minerotrophic peatland soils will be rewetted during the next years.},
