The original area of the bog was 150 ha with a remaining original vegetation of 3 ha. The thickness of the peat decreased in the last 30 years around 0.4 m and in total 1.5 m since drainage succeeded. The ground water level varies around 0.6 m below surface in the most areas of the bog, which are overgrown with Rubus fruticosus - Molinia caerulea- Pinus sylvestris or Betula pubescens – forests, respectively.
