%X Abstract: On an experimental site in Lower Saxony samples of various Sphagnum peats were collected for laboratory analyses of hydraulic properties. It turned out that the hydraulic properties of the peats are different and that at low degrees of decomposition horizontal and vertical water conductivities differ significantly. This has implications for peatland rewetting and for optimal water management of Sphagnum farming sites.
