A reduction of nutrient concentrations is necessary to create suitable site conditions for a type-specific flora and fauna. In Europe as well as in Germany, drainage is considered to be a quantitatively important input pathway, where an effective nutrient management must start. In February 2007, around 40 experts discussed in Flintbek, Germany, the effects of subsurface drainage in peatlands and mineral soils on surface water quality, presented GIS methods for identifying drained areas on different scales and developed new ideas for a more environmental friendly water management. %U http://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gldocs-11858/7351 %~ FID GEO-LEO e-docs
