%X Abstract: Our study presents new data on ant species found in the Ahlen-Falkenberger Moor (Cuxhaven area, Niedersachsen). The ants were collected by pitfall traps and direct searching as well. All together 10 ant species were recorded. Formica uralensis Ruzsky, 1895 was unknown to the fauna in Niedersachsen before. According to the actual knowledge on ant ecology, Formica picea Nylander, 1846, Formica uralensis Ruzsky, 1895, Myrmica vandeli Bondroit, 1919 seem to prefer bogs or bogs and fen, and should thus be taken into account as monitoring organisms for bogs or bog restoration areas.
