Abstract

The descriptive aspect of geology as well as the qualitative information from basic geological (field) work and investigation force the community of mathematical geology inevitably to deal with such qualitative variables as rock types, sedimental phases, ore types etc. when modelling geological phenomena connected with them. The analysis as well as mapping of those phenomena is of especial intereste and importance when dealing with such practical problems as □ spatial distributions of certain rock types in underground (e.g. for related questions in environment geology, hydrology or in petroleum geology) □ spatial distribution patterns of different ore types, which serve as a base for the mining planning; □ environment monitoring of the distribution of contaminants, e.g. of certain heavy metals etc. [...]
