The understanding of early agrarian economies and their impact on landscapes and natural environments has become a major goal of many large-scale projects. The shaping of cultural landscapes by the spread of agriculture, animal husbandry and the building of settlements has been the most influential development since the beginning of agriculture more than 10.000 years ago.
