  • Abstract
Aim of the study was to test the capability of multiple trace gas analyses for the assessment of regional carbon budgets. Therefore, air samples were taken by airborne and ground level activities during several field campaigns within Europe. Basic elements for the data acquisition were the development of an adapted sampling system and of an enhanced investigation strategy. By the study important processes like insufficient mixing and advection were identified which could seriously effect the measurements and thus the calculated budgets. The concluding results prompt for improvements regarding appropriate flux estimation techniques and application of the enhanced investigation strategy within a frame of combined measurement activities.
