New records of damsel- and dragonflies (Odonata: Zygoptera, Anisoptera) from the Miocene of the Mainz Basin (Tertiary; SW-Germany)

Neue Funde von Klein- und Großlibellen aus der miozänen Wiesbaden- Formation des Mainzer Beckens werden abgebildet und beschrieben. Das Flügelfragment der Familie Libellulidae und ein fast vollständiges Exemplar von Lestes sp. (Lestidae) erweitern unser Wissen über die Lebewelt der Wiesbaden-Formation, insbesondere da historische Funde als verschollen gelten bzw. ihr Aufbewahrungsort unbekannt ist. Die Lestidae stellen den ersten Nachweis von Zygoptera für das Tertiär des Mainzer Beckens dar.

Abstract: New finds of damsel- and dragonflies from the Miocene Wiesbaden Formation of the Mainz Basin are figured and described. The wing fragment of the family Libellulidae and an almost complete specimen of Lestes sp. (Lestidae) widen our knowledge of the biota of the Wiesbaden Formation, in particular as historical finds must be considered lost or their repository unknown, respectively. The Lestidae constitutes the first record of Zygoptera for the Tertiary of the Mainz Basin.
