N2  - Abstract: The article gives an overview on the situation, biodiversity, rewetting activities and installation of an accompanying monitoring system in Belarus’ biggest raised bog Jel’nia. The investigations in Jel’nia are part of an investigation scheme in the peatlands and mires of Belarus to work out vegetation forms that indicate mean water level fluctuations (cf. vegetation forms, KOSKA et al. 2001) and connect them with currently undergoing greenhouse gas measurements in Belarus (THIELE et al. 2009) in order to use them later as indicator for greenhouse gas emissions (COUWENBERG et al. 2008, COUWENBERG et al. 2010 in revision). The system of established transects can also serve as a base for long-term monitoring of the results of rewetting activities of local Non-Governmental Organisations and nature conservation administrations.
N2  - Zusammenfassung: Zustand, Biodiversität, Wiedervernässungsmaßnahmen und die Installation eines Monitoringprogramms in Belarus‘ größtem Hochmoor Jel’nia werden beschrieben. Dabei werden die Vegetationstypen (siehe Vegetationsformen, KOSKA et al. 2001), als Indikator für Treibhausgasemissionen betrachtet (COUWEN-BERG et al. 2008, COUWENBERG et al. 2010 in Begutachtung). Die in Zusammenarbeit mit jungen Wissenschaftlern aus Belarus angelegten Transekte können zudem als Grundlage für ein Langzeit-Monitoring dienen, um den Erfolg der Wiedervernässung der lokalen Akteure zu messen.
