N2  - Schweizer Moore und Moorlandschaften haben Seltenheitswert. Dies allein rechtfertigt schon ihren bedingungslosen Schutz. Dank des "Rothenthurm"-Artikels der Bundesverfassung, das Ergebnis einer Volksabstimmung über eine Verfassungsinitiative, ist dieser auch rechtlich vollziehbar. Die Initiative führte aber zudem zu einer generellen, bedeutenden Verbesserung des Biotopschutzes. Inzwischen stehen 524 Hoch- und Übergangsmoore, 1203 Flachmoore und 90 Moorlandschaften unter recht strengem Schutz. Das sind etwa 2.7 % der gesamten Landesfläche der Schweiz.
N2  - Swiss mires and mire landscapes are a rare commodity and therefore precious. This reason alone justifies their absolute protection. Thanks to the ”Rothenthurm” article in the Federal Constitution, which is the result of a popular vote on a constitutional initiative, this protection can now be legally enforced. The initiative furthermore brought about significant improvement to the protection of biotopes. In the meantime 524 raised and transitional bogs, 1203 fenlands and 90 mire landscapes have been placed under strict protection. This amounts to some 2.7 % of the total surface of Switzerland.
